Ocean Memory Art 2017

A community to explore Ocean Memory
Deep Sea Memory Ocean Memory Art soniDOME Ocean Memory Challenge

The Ocean Memory Art Project explores deep ocean research and the idea of ocean memory through a collaboratively created interdisciplinary performance installation. A playwright, a visual artist, a bioacoustician and their three scientific partners gather to probe this question. Through collective experience during deep sea diving exploration, and scientific and creative workshops they will collaborate to create a live immersive artwork at the intersection of ocean, memory, and human experience. How can art and science unleash what Alan Leonardi, Director of Ocean Exploration and Research at NOAA, calls “The greatest oral history of the planet, trapped in a community we cannot see and in a language we do not understand.”?
